Another product of my isolation-writing-recording period in 2020-2021. For this set of songs I decided that I wanted to try a more analog approach. I used my macbook with Logix Pro X as if it was a tape-machine. Recording only 8 tracks with no fixes, edits, quantizing, punchin’-in or trickery like that. Just dialing in the sounds and playing tunes from start to finish. After recording, I mixed the tracks through a Soundcraft Spirit FX16 mixing desk. It was very refreshing to work like this because it puts your brain in a different spot. It dictates the parts you write, the way you plan the recording, how you shape the sounds and what not.. Lessons I learned while doing this I still use in every project.
